What's the story behind Battlefield 2042?

Due to climate change and other issues, the world has entered a chaotic state of war after several catastrophic events. Due to the "Kessler Effect", a large number of satellites in Earth's orbit collide in a series, sending the ground into chaos. More than 70% of satellites were destroyed, and positioning and communication services were almost non-existent. As supplies become scarce, conflict between Russia and the United States over food and resources intensifies.
